Our keynote speaker is Yanev Suissa, a venture fellow at New Enterprise Associates. He currently works with the boards of Solidfire, Bridge International Academies, Bandgap Engineering, and Boulder Wind Power. In the tech space, Yanev focuses on earlier stage investments, including enterprise and cloud solutions, digital media, and consumer technologies. In the energy space, Yanev focuses on both supply and demand side solutions across all renewable technologies while simultaneously providing regular advice to energy companies within NEA’s portfolio. Prior to joining NEA, Yanev was a senior investment officer in the government, where he was engaged in the underwriting of billions of dollars of debt for issuance to new, innovative technology companies. Prior to that role, Yanev served as a consultant working with a range of leading financial industry clients to assess growth opportunities. He also worked as an advisor to several successful startups around the world. Yanev serves on the Technology Advisory Board for NJIT and the NJ Economic Development Authority, as well as the board of NYCVC, a group dedicated to building relationships among the next generation of New York venture capitalists. Yanev earned an M.B.A. with distinction from the Oxford Said School of Business (Christ Church), a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and a master's degree from Sydney Law School. He graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in ethics, politics & economics and sociology.

Advent Technologies Inc. develops new materials and systems for renewable energy technologies and is primarily focused on high-temperature PEM fuel cell membranes and components. The company is headquartered in East Hartford, Connecticut, with R&D and pilot production facilities in Patras, Greece, and affiliated laboratories at University of Connecticut and Northeastern University. Funding has come from institutional and industrial investors such as Connecticut Innovations, Piraeus Bank Venture Capital, Systems Sunlight, and Velti. Advent holds a strong IP portfolio on high-temperature PEM fuel cell technology, with eight U.S.- and world-granted patents and 18 pending patent applications. A global supplier, the company has distribution partnerships in place in India, China, South Korea, and Japan.
Green States Energy, Inc. is an independent power producer that acquires, develops, and operates clean electric generating plants in the Americas and Europe. GSE currently owns nine operating solar PV power plants in the United States, with a total output of more than 8MW ($48MM asset value) and has another 2.5MW under construction ($8.5MM asset value). GSE’s project pipeline comprises over 100MW and includes solar, biomass, and cogeneration/CHP projects. GSE plans to have over 150MW of clean energy projects completed by the end of 2016.
